CME – Dept. of Psychiatry on 31/08/2025 “Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry”

The Department of Psychiatry, Narayana Medical College & Hospital, successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) on “Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry” on 31-8-2025 at Anatomy Demo Hall 1. The program was designed to enhance awareness and clinical skills in managing psychiatric conditions in medical and surgical settings, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.

 

The event commenced with a welcome address by Organizing Chair Person Dr.V.V.Seshamma , who set the tone by emphasizing the growing relevance of liaison psychiatry in holistic patient care. The inaugural session was graced by Dignitaries Dr.G.Ramesh Babu, Dr.M.G.Srinivas, Dr.S.Chandra Babu, Dr.Sk.Subahani, Dr.E.Ananda Reddy, Dr.D.Padmavathi,Dr.Muralidhar, who underlined the role of consultation-liaison psychiatry in bridging the gap between psychiatry and other medical specialties.

 

The scientific sessions featured thought-provoking talks by distinguished speakers. In the morning session Dr.M.G Srinivas delivered a lecture on Gut brain axis role in psychiatric disorders , while Dr. SK.Subahani elaborated on “Approach to Psychiatric Emergencies and it’s recent  advances. later Session on case based approaches in psychosomatic medicine, by Dr. E. Ananda Reddy enriched the academic experience which further allowed participants to translate knowledge into practical skills.

 

The CME attracted active participation from faculty members, postgraduate students, and clinicians across multiple specialties, fostering an environment of cross-disciplinary learning. The sessions were well-received, with participants appreciating the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue on complex cases that demand collaborative care.

In the afternoon session Dr sravan krishna reddy associate professor in Department of Radiology gave a talk on neuroimaging in psychiatry Disorders by practically teaching the skills in neuroimaging. Dr Anusha associate professor in the Department of Neurology gave an elaborate talk on Basics of EEG interpretation which helped postgraduates in interpreting EEG.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by acknowledging the efforts of the organizing committee, faculty speakers, and attendees. The CME was widely appreciated as a highly informative and impactful academic event that reinforced the vital role of consultation-liaison psychiatry in integrated healthcare delivery.
