Zonal CME - Department of General Medicine – Post Graduate Update

A Continuing Medical Education (CME) program was held on August 27, 2023,from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, at the Louis Pasteur Learning Centre of Narayana Medical College in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India. The program was organized by the Department of General Medicine and sponsored by Dr. Y.S.R. UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES.

 Zonal CME program was attended by about 290 delegates, including postgraduates NMC, KMC, GMC, SVIMS and PG’s from other branches, and faculty from NMCH, ACSR and IMA Doctors from Nellore (Dt).

 

The program began with the prayer song and lighting of the lamp  by

the Guests of Honours Dr. P. Sreenivasulu Reddy, the Principal of Narayana Medical College and Dr.B.Hariprasad Reddy, Medical Superintendent of NMCH, Dr.P.Narasimha Reddy Academic Director of NMCH and faculty and wished the programme a grand success.

The dias was shared by  Dr. S.Chandra Babu MD, Professor & HOD, Department of General Medicine, NMCH, Dr. C. Prabhakar Raju MD, Professor of Medicine, Dr. M. Rajesh Kumar, Professor of Medicine, Dr. M. Dorasanamma MD, Associate Professor of Medicine,                      Dr. V. Mahesh MD, Associate Professor of Medicine, NMCH and guests of honors. This was followed by the welcome address by Dr. S. Chandra Babu MD, the Professor and Head of the Department of General Medicine, where he put forward the reasons for conducting this Zonal CME, its learning objectives and how it could benefit the postgraduates and inaugural address by guests of honors.

 

The first speaker of the day was Dr. Ram Kumar, a Cardiologist. He has spoken on Heart Failure. He has discussed etiology, clinical features and management of Heart Failure including recent trends in management of Heart failure.

 

The second speaker was Dr. M. Rajesh Kumar MD, Professor of Medicine. He has spoken about the Approach to Giddiness. He narrated how to diagnose and causes of giddiness and discussed the differential diagnosis and management.

 

The third speaker was Dr. Alladi Mohan MD, Dean of SVIMS, Tirupati. He discussed about extra pulmonary T.B and interacted with doctors and PG’s regarding the Lab diagnosis and management.

 

The fourth speaker was Dr. S.Chandra Babu MD, Professor and HOD of Medicine and ART Nodal officer.  He has spoken about treatment and diagnosis of HIV and it’s management including in recent trends in using latest anti HIV drugs.

 

The fifth speaker of the day was Dr. Gopala Krishna has spoken on Acid based Disorders with Clinical Scenarios.

The Sixth speaker of the day was Dr. C. Prabhakar Raju MD, Professor of Medicine. He has spoken about Clinical approach to Jaundice. He has discussed in detail about clinical examination, Lab diagnosis and management.

The Seventh and final speaker of the day was Dr. N.Sampath Kumar, a Neurologist. He has spoken about Mylopathy and diagnosis and DD of compression mylopathy.

 

This is followed by Interactive Case Presentation by Dr.S.Bhanu Rekha PG and moderated by Dr.M.Dorasanamma and Dr. N.Sampath Kumar and faculty members.

This is followed by Quiz program conducted by Dr. V. Mahesh and actively participated by pgs.

Prizes distributed to PG’s (Dr.G.Sidhartha – First prize, Dr.B.Murali Krishna – Second Prize, Dr.B.Sujeev, Dr.P.Aruna, Dr.G.Chandra kiran Kumar – Third prize)

This CME program was ended with vote of thanks by Dr.P.Swathi.

The delegates was able to learn a lot from the speeches and gained lot of knowledge and inspired and motivated by dedicated speakers.
