WORLD KIDNEY DAY PROGRAM AT NARAYANA MEDICAL COLLEGE ON 14TH MARCH 2019.

World Kidney Day is a global awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of our kidneys.
World Kidney Day is celebrated every year on the 2nd Thursday of March. The Department of Nephrology, Narayana Medical College have conducted a CME on this occasion on 14th March 2019. Meeting was mainly focussed on raising awareness about kidney diseases, their preventive strategies and treatment options including dialysis and transplantation among the doctors and medical students.

The CME was presided by the Dean of medical college Dr. Surya Prakasa Rao, CEO of Narayana hospital Dr.K.Satish Kumar, Medical superintendent Dr. Biju Ravindran, Professor & Head Department of Nephrology Dr.K.Praveen Kumar, Professor & Head Department of Urology Dr.N.Mallikarjun Reddy. About 120 members attended the meeting including faculty and students of Narayana Medical College.
The Scientific programme included the topics on graft rejection in kidney transplantation, management of a brain dead organ donor, laparoscopic donor nephrectomy and chronic kidney disease of unknown etiology. It was an informative session with good interaction among the audience and the speakers.

The Department of Nephrology had conducted similar such programmes in the past which included public screenings, patient awareness programs, CME’S for physicians, kidney walk and marathons etc.
