WORLD HEALTH DAY 2016

The department of Community Medicine, Narayana Medical College organized the following activities on 7th April, 2016.

  1. An academic discussion on prevention and control of diabetes was done by Dr. V. Chandrasekhar, Professor & Head of Community Medicine, at the academic cell of our hospital between 8 am and 9 am. About 50 doctors attended the programme. The importance of world health day, its theme “Beat the Diabetes”, epidemiology, problem in India and world, prevention and control strategies, National Programme of NCDs, etc were discussed in the programme.
  2. A public rally and a health education campaign were conducted at the field practice area of Urban Health Center, Saraswathi Nagar. About 50 medical students of 4th and 6th semester batches, field staff of UHC and postgraduates & faculty members of Community Medicine, participated in the rally. About 100 people attended the public meeting of Health Education Campaign. Dr. Ravi Kiran and Dr. Chandrasekhar gave a health talk for the benefit of the public.
  3. A quiz on diabetes was organized for the medical students. It was conducted in two rounds, preliminary and final. The preliminary round was done on 5th April. 88 medical students of 4th, 6th and 8th semester batches, appeared in the preliminary. A written test with MCQs was administered. Based on merit, four teams, each team consisting of three medical students was selected. Two teams each were selected from 6th and 8th semester batches. The final round of quiz was organized on 7th at the gallery Harper between 2 pm and 4 pm. All participants and the winners were awarded certificates. The winners were Shaik Junhi, R. Akhil and R. Vishal. All of them are 8th semester medicos.

This programme was conducted all over the country in about 350 medical colleges simultaneously under the technical guidance of Indian Association of Preventive & Social Medicine (IAPSM).
