About the Department

The Department of Pathology was established in 2000 and was initially actively involved in undergraduate teaching of MBBS students. Subsequently the diagnostic division started along with the establishment of the Narayana General Hospital . Histopathology, Cytopathology, Haematology, Blood Bank and Clinical Pathology were the basic sections of the department which have evolved over the years into more specialized facilities with the growth of the Institution. There has been a steady upward trend in the Biopsy load as well as all diagnostic facilities offered by this department.

Services Offered

Diagnostic Work:

Histopathology: This section processes well over 7500 tissue samples per year. Routine processing is supplemented with rapid processing for selected cases (using microwave oven). Frozen section and IHC are regularly done. Servic laboratories are available in the Narayana Hospitals.

Cytopathology: Samples are processed as early as posible to the patient requirements. The materials processed include fine needle aspirations, body fluids and Pap smears.

Cancer Screening Programs – Screening for Cancer Cervix, Cancer Breast.
