Welcome address by Dr. N.S. Sampath Kumar Garu, Associate Professor of Neurology, and Organizing Secretary of Neuro Radiology Update 2015.

While addressing the delegates and gathering of update he highlighted that Neuro Radiology update 2015 is a unique and versatile programme first of its kind in south India and 2nd of its kind in India.

Delegates from all over country and specially from southern states consist of faculty and post graduate students of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Radiology of established institutes like Madras Medical College, Srichitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum, NIMS, SVIMS, Bangalore Medical College, JIPMER, NIMHANS have participated.

 The Neuro Radiology update  is being organized at Narayana Medical College, Nellore, A.P. where established Neurological and Radiological departments with fully equipped and state of art modalities like 128 slice CT and 3 TESLA MRI, video EEG and bedside continues recording EEG machines, 8 channel ENMG.

Moreover post graduate students, faculty from various cities of India are working in various departments of Narayana Medical College; the national CME of this level is being organized to update delegates and students. So that they can sharpen their skills for better diagnosis of various neurological disorders like stroke, fits, nerve and muscle diseases and especially pediatric neurological diseases.

International speaker  Dr.Ashis Atre from USA, National speaker Dr.Jitendra Saini, Dr.Sarath, Dr. Ravi Varma and Dr. Roopa Seshadri, visited NIMHANS, SCTIMS (TRIVANDRUM) who had extensive knowledge and experience over years have delivered lectures and shared their experiences.

The chair persons who have moderated the sessions and co-ordinate the lectures of speakers are all from various institutes and all of them are professors and head of the department of Neurology.

Dr.Ashish Atre:  Star image centre, Pune -had hightghted the spine and pediatric neurological disorders and role of imaging in diagnosis.

Dr.Ravi Varma (Medicity, HYD):  stressed the various nerve membrane disorders and various pediatric metabolic disorders.

Dr.Sarath highlighted imaging in stroke.

Dr. Roopa highlighted imaging in epilepsy.

Dr. Jitendra focused on interventions and surgical procedures in various neurological disorders especially stroke.

Organizing secretary of Neurology update given his concluding remarks by saying Imaging plays vital role in diagnosis and management of various brain, spine, neck and muscle neurological disorders like advanced imaging modulation like 128 slice, 3T.  By attending conferences of this sort will sharpen doctor’s diagnostic skills and update this basic knowledge for better patient care.
