CME: Update on Renal Transplantation

A Brief Report of the Proceedings of the CME on Renal Transplantation.

Departments of Nephrology and Genito-Urinary Surgery, Narayana Medical College, Nellore, organized a Faculty Development Programme on 05 Dec, 2014. A CME on Renal Transplantation Update was organized, at the Demonstration Room, Department of Anatomy, from 10 am to 3 pm.

  2. Dr. Surya Prakash, Professor & Head of Genito-Urinary Surgery

      About 100 participants including faculty members, postgraduates of Superspecialities and broad specialities, medical and nursing students, attended the CME Programme. After a formal prayer by the nursing students and lighting of the lamp, the CME was inaugurated.  The CME started with Dr. Praveen Kumar gaving an introductory speech. This was followed by Dr. Nagi Reddy, Dr. Subrahmanyam, Dr. Vijaya Mohana Reddy, Dr. Subba Rao and others, who high-lighted the importance of kidney transplantation.

The kidney transplantation was started in Narayana Medical College Hospital five years back. About 40 transplantations were done so far.  The survival rate is >90%.    Almost all patients are doing well. These operations were done under the Arogyasri Scheme.

The guest speakers, Dr. Murthy, Dr. Swarnalatha, Dr. Dolly and Dr. Basu Gopal discussed the various aspects of transplant surgeries and discussed at length about their experiences and shared their wisdom with the participants.

The update on Renal Transplantation was a grand success.
