The Department of Community Medicine, Narayana Medical College, successfully organized a series of activities to commemorate World Population Day 2025, aligning with the global mission of raising awareness about the health, social, and environmental impacts of population dynamics. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the administration and management of Narayana Medical College for permitting us to do these activities.
Essay Writing Competition (10th July 2025)
On 10th July 2025, an Essay Writing Competition was held in the Louis Pasteur Gallery at the college for undergraduate students from 3rd MBBS–Part I, 3rd MBBS–Part II, and interns. Dr. Lathika Chugh assistant professor of the department conducted it successfully with the help and support from other faculty of the department.This initiative aimed to foster critical thinking and creative expression among budding medical professionals on topics related to population health.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation, with students reflecting on the multifaceted challenges posed by rapid population growth in India. Participants also proposed innovative solutions rooted in public health principles, such as promoting reproductive health services, gender equity, and youth empowerment.
The top three winners will be awarded mementos, and all participants will receive certificates of appreciation. The results will be formally announced on 14th July 2025.
Health Talk at Government Junior College, Venkatachalam (11th July 2025)
Dr. Ali, assistant professor in charge of RHTC, Venkatachalam organized an awareness program at Government Junior College, Venkatachalam with the help and support of Dr. Vidyasagar MO RHTC, Venkatachalam. Around 100 students attended the session, reflecting strong interest and engagement from the young students.
The primary focus of the talk was to educate and sensitize adolescents on the importance of population health and responsible decision-making. Dr. R. Sai Sravan kumar, associate professor spoke about the theme of world population day and he emphasized that youth are the future of the country, and their informed choices today will directly shape the nation’s demographic and health trajectory tomorrow. Dr C. Jyothi, Professor & HOD, interacted with the students and spoke to them about the consequences of increase in population and the advantages of small family. Dr. Ali proposed the vote of thanks.
