A Landmark Day for Liver Care: Narayana Medical College Launches Liver Transplantation Programme and Hosts Successful CME
June 11, 2025, marked a pivotal day for Narayana Medical College, ushering in a new era for advanced medical services. The day commenced with the formal signing of a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Narayana Medical College and Global Hospital. This historic collaboration officially launches our Liver Transplantation Programme, a monumental step forward in our commitment to providing specialized, life-saving healthcare to the community.
Following this momentous occasion, Narayana Medical College, in association with Gleneagles Hospital, Chennai, proudly hosted a highly successful CME Programme on “Liver Transplantation Current Trends.” Held at the Louis Pasteur Gallery from 10:00 AM onwards, the programme offered invaluable insights into the latest advancements in liver transplantation.
The CME was graced by distinguished guests, including Mrs. P Indira Madam, Medical Director, and Dr. Nageswar Rao K, Cluster Chief Executive Officer, Gleneagles Hyderabad. Attendees benefited from expert presentations by:
* Dr. Rajakanth Patcha, Clinical Lead of Liver Transplantation at Gleneagles Health City, Chennai, who elucidated “Liver transplantation current concepts.”
* Dr. Selvakumar Malleswaran, HOD of Liver Transplantation Anaesthesia, who shared expertise on “Deceased Donor Optimization and Maintenance.”
* Dr. J. Chaitanya, MD; FNB (Critical Care Medicine), who delved into the “legal and ethical implications of organ transplant.”
The comprehensive CME Programme was meticulously organized by the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology & GI Oncology & Liver Transplantation, with dedicated efforts from Dr. Bonny Natesan (Professor & HOD), Dr. Vamsi Krishna (Professor), and Dr. Dwarakanath Reddy (Associate Professor).
