World Tuberculosis Prevention & Control Day, 2016

The Departments of Pulmonary Medicine and Community Medicine organized the Programme.
An academic activity for the school students, medical and nursing students was organized at Harper’s gallery from 9 am to 12 noon. Specimens, slides, models, charts, etc were displayed outside the gallery. A separate discussion for the school students was conducted using these AV aids.

Subba Rao, Administrator of Super specialties and Dean Academics and Dr. Rama Mohan Rao, Deputy Medical Superintendent graced the occasion on behalf of the Administration and gave introductory remarks to emphasize the importance of TB and its prevention and control not only in the patients coming to our hospital, but also in the community and the country.

Dr. C. Kumar, Professor of Community Medicine discussed about the epidemiology, situation in the world and country in great detail. He presented the latest developments in the Revised National TB Control Programme, high lighting the importance of managing the drug resistance.

Dr. G.P. Vignan Kumar, Associate Professor & I/c Head of Pulmonology, discussed extensively about the challenges faced by the department regarding the clinical diagnosis, management of TB in the context of HIV and drug resistance. Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor of Pulmonology also discussed about the clinical aspects and recent trends.

About 200 medical and nursing students attended the programme.
