Physiotherapy
About the department
The Department of Physiotherapy started rendering clinical services to the patients since 2000 in the premises of the Narayana General Hospital . The clinical unit of the Department strives in providing quality health care services to the patient.

Physiotherapy is the treatment of any disease; deformity or malfunctions, by district therapeutic measures like exercises, heat etc, and has, over the years, gained vast acceptance as a sophisticated and essential medical technology.

Our ultimate aim in our Physiotherapy Department is the restoration of the fullest functional activity possible; helping people lead more active and more independent lives.
An essential aspect of physiotherapy treatment is rehabilitation, which may be required in order to re-educate a person to enable them to safely return to their normal life be it work, sport or other common activities of daily living.

The Physiotherapy Department at Narayana General Hospital is a set up with prime objective of patient care & recovery and is supported by most advanced technique, equipment, and instruments.

Strength of the Department
Professor of Physiotherapy heads Department of Physiotherapy. There are 4 senior physiotherapists and 5 physiotherapists and 3 junior physiotherapists in the Physiotherapy Section. Occupational Therapy Section and Orthotic-Prosthetics Sections have 1 member each. The department is located on the ground floor of the Narayana General Hospital OPD Block. On an average 35 patients receive daily physiotherapy consultation and treatment in the OPD and wards. The department deals with persons suffering from pain, weakness, deformities etc. due to orthopedic or neuromuscular disorders and cardio Respiratory diseases at any age. The department offers exercise therapy, electro therapy, occupational therapy, aids & appliances and functional restoration.

The department offers Outpatient clinical services from 08.00am - 05.00pm.

The patients are treated on primary and cross-consultation basis. The patients are referred for cross-consultation from other clinical departments of the Narayana Superspeciality Hospital . The patients are also referred from Primary Health care and referral hospital from Narayana polyclinic Pogathota Nellore.

•  Other inpatients who have recovered from acute phase, visit the Outpatient department for the services

HOD Profile

Principal Dr.A.THIRUPPATHI, M.P.T., F.C.R., MIAP
Educational Qualifications: BPT-1998, MPT- 2001(The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University ) Fellowship in Cardiac Rehabilitation- Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad.
Academic Experience: September 2001 to till date.
Past Institutions Worked: Trinity mission and Medical foundation college of Physiotherapy and Hospital Madurai. From Sep 2001 to Dec 2005.
Administrative Experience: Principal& Head of department of Physiotherapy in Narayana College of Physiotherapy from September 2006 to till date.
Achievements: Present 3 Papers in National and International level.

Academic Activities

Every week end, internal assessment tests will be conducted and the progress report will be put in the online also sent to their parents in the Respective week regularly.

The physiotherapy students attend various ward postings in the Narayana general, Super Specialty Hospitals in the forenoon of everyday.

Continuing Physiotherapy Education Program

It is organized once in a week to update the latest concepts in Physiotherapy field.

Journal Club

Journal club is conducted every month to update our knowledge in the physiotherapy field.

STUDENT MENTOR
"Student mentor scheme" is organized to improve interaction between students and faculty and to provide guidance, advice and help to the students during the course.

Extra Curricular Activities
Everyday the 1 st year students have Computer training classes, to have a sound knowledge about the computer.

Continuing Physiotherapy Education Program
It is organized once in a week to update the latest concepts in Physiotherapy field.
