REPORT ON NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CLINICAL PHARMACODYNAMICS
Dates- November 30 & December 1st 2018
Venue- Narayana Medical College, Nellore-524003, AP, India
Clinical Pharmacodynamics is the study of the main effects, side effects and adverse effects of drugs on human beings. The general belief among the population is that to evaluate the effects of drugs; we need patients. However, the effects of some drugs can be quantified in healthy individuals by altering their physiology. For some others drugs, we need to induce disease in healthy volunteers, to assess their effects. Drugs also produce adverse effects; we can quantify them too. This workshop focused on human models of disease, quantification of effects of drugs, utilisation of non-invasive tools in quantifying the drug effects.. We demonstrated all three drug effects, using chlorpheniramine maleate, an example molecule for teaching pharmacodynamics.
The resource persons are from reputed national institutes, experts in conducting clinical trials, quantizing the drug effects and also innovators of non-invasive biomedical instruments.
Former Head of Clinical Pharmacology and Dean faculty of Medicine, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, TG.
